Origin Standard™ Carry-On is our take on the Character Carry-On: premium hardshell carry-on luggage for design-conscious travelers who care how a case moves, protects, and is made. Sized at 22 × 14 × 9 inches and weighing 7.5 lb, the Carry-On is built for real-world travel and designed to stay with you as the details change.
A 100% German Makrolon® polycarbonate shell works with reinforced aluminum corners to manage the demands of real-world travel. The removable and replaceable wheels combine resilient, skateboard-inspired polyurethane with precision bearings for a smoother, more controlled roll. Changing the wheel color gives the same Carry-On a different character.
Omni Strap brings utility and expression together. It keeps everyday essentials close at hand while leaving room for a personal touch that makes the Carry-On feel distinctly yours. Inside, considered compartments keep clothing, smaller essentials, and damp items organized and accessible.

Travel does not handle luggage gently. Origin Standard brings resilient polycarbonate, reinforced aluminum corners, security zippers, and integrated locks together as one protection system.
Built with YKK® security zippers engineered to resist puncture and tampering, including protection against the “ballpoint breach” method used to compromise standard luggage.
Aerospace-grade aluminum corner bumpers are riveted to all four corners to absorb impact at first contact, while the shell flexes to disperse the remaining force. Together, they form a dual-layer protection system that adds strength without unnecessary weight.
We avoided porous exterior fabrics and built the case around a polycarbonate shell that naturally resists moisture. Key components are deliberately positioned to reduce direct exposure, with the telescopic release beneath the handle and the TSA locks mounted on the side to help limit rain and water entry.
Integrated TSA-approved locks secure your belongings while allowing authorized inspections when required. Built directly into the case, they provide reliable locking without the need for separate padlocks or external locking hardware.
The telescopic handle has passed rigorous testing for strength and durability. Solid in hand and steady in motion, it helps keep the Carry-On controlled through the repeated stops, starts, and changes of direction of real travel.

Why We Chose Zippers
Rigid frames can feel reassuring, but real travel puts luggage under uneven pressure, tight overhead spaces, and unpredictable handling. A well-engineered zipper system allows the case to flex with those forces, helping distribute stress instead of concentrating it at rigid points, while maintaining a secure and reliable closure trip after trip.

Why We Chose Zippers for Real Travel
A rigid frame and a zipper closure solve the same problem in very different ways. One depends on a fixed perimeter. The other allows the case to respond to pressure, shifting loads, and changing packing needs.
For Origin Standard, the choice came down to how a Carry On actually behaves in real travel. Tight overhead bins, uneven packing, unexpected impact, and changing capacity all reward a structure that can adapt without giving up protection. That is why we chose a heavy duty zipper system.
1. More Usable Weight
Rigid metal frames require additional material around the perimeter of the case, adding weight whether that structure is needed or not.
Origin Standard takes a different approach. The Makrolon® polycarbonate shell provides resilient impact protection, reinforced aluminum corners protect the most exposed areas, and the zipper system removes the need for a heavy perimeter frame. The result is a lighter construction without giving up the protection real travel demands.
2. A Little Give Under Pressure
Rigid frames depend on fixed geometry. A zipper closure allows the two sides of the case to move slightly in relation to one another when the bag is under pressure.
That controlled flexibility matters in real travel, especially when lifting the case into tight overhead spaces or dealing with a fuller pack.
It does not change airline size requirements. It simply allows the case to respond more naturally when conditions are less than perfect.
3. Easier to Live With When Fully Packed
Packing is rarely perfectly balanced. One side gets fuller. A jacket gets added at the last minute. Something bought during the trip has to come home.
Rigid closures depend on both sides meeting at a precise point. A zipper system gives the case more tolerance when the contents are not perfectly distributed, making everyday opening and closing more forgiving.
That flexibility also works naturally with the internal compression and expansion system.
4. Designed to Move With Impact
Travel impact rarely arrives evenly.
A rigid perimeter concentrates structure around the edge of the case. Our approach allows the polycarbonate shell to flex and disperse force while the zipper closure moves with the case rather than requiring the entire perimeter to remain perfectly aligned.
Combined with reinforced aluminum corners, the system is designed to manage impact through both protection and controlled flexibility.
5. Expansion Without Complicating the Case
Travel plans change. Packing needs do too.
A zipper construction allows Origin Standard to incorporate a 5 cm expansion layer directly into the case, creating additional capacity when it is actually needed.
When it is not, the case returns to its standard profile.
That ability to change capacity is difficult to achieve as naturally within a fixed rigid frame.
6. Security Without Giving Up Flexibility
Choosing a zipper does not mean accepting a basic zipper.
Origin Standard uses YKK® security zippers engineered to resist puncture and tampering, including the common ballpoint breach method used to force open conventional zipper tracks.
Integrated TSA approved locks secure the zipper pulls directly to the case, combining the adaptability of a zipper closure with a more considered security system.

We did not choose zippers because they were the simplest option. We chose them because they support the way we wanted the Carry On to work.
Less unnecessary structure. Controlled flexibility. Easier packing. Expandable capacity. A shell that can move under impact rather than depending on a perfectly rigid perimeter.
Rigid frames have their advantages. For Origin Standard, flexibility was not something to engineer out of the case. It was something to engineer properly.
Because real travel is rarely rigid.

Each available combination is curated so the wheels, leather handles, and fixed Omni Strap come together as one considered composition. The handles and wheels can be changed later through Color Kits, while the Omni Strap remains part of the Carry-On’s original design.

Yes. Color Kits are sold separately and include coordinated replacement wheels and leather handles. A Color Kit can renew one of the Carry-On’s hardest-working components or give the same case a different character over time. The Omni Strap is fixed and is not included as a replaceable component. Colors are subject to current availability.

The standard Origin Standard™ Carry-On does not include the Expansion Layer. During the current promotion, subscribers can reserve a complimentary first-order upgrade that adds 2 in (5 cm) of expandable packing depth. Opening the Expansion Layer changes the exterior dimensions, so travelers should confirm their airline’s current size limits before departure.

Origin Standard™ Carry-On is covered by a lifetime warranty for the original owner when purchased directly from The Origin or an authorized retailer. Coverage applies when core components such as the wheels, carry handles, telescopic handle, locks, or zippers stop functioning as designed.
